I’ve just been thinking… Look how easy it is for the smallest thing to throw a wheel or fan out of balance. When it does, these once pleasurable devices can become rather costly if they’re tires, and both noisy and annoying, can’t they?
I’m seeing that’s also the same with various things that make the wheels turn in our lives. When we don’t stay alert like the Bible tells us we need to, one or more of our ever-turning “wheels” or “fans” of Faith, Jobs, Health, Entertainment, Fun, Exploration, Politics, Education, Friends or Family can suddenly be thrown out of balance to one degree or another, by the most seemingly innocent looking of things! When we’re alert, some can be avoidable, others are not. They’re unavoidable—just accepted as a factor of life.
But thankfully when it happens, the fix can oftentimes be equally as simple as the cause! IF… yes, “if” we first seek to understand what caused the “imbalance,” we’re better equipped to know best how to fix it. That is wisdom.
I don’t know about you, but too many times I use the hit and miss approach so I can get right to fixing something that’s creating a “noise” or “distraction” that keep me from giving my attention to what I consider more important things. Sometimes that approach works out okay, but I must confess, too many times it doesn’t! What could have been a relatively simple, quick to fix task, turn into a time-consuming chore!
…which brings me to my point. For many years in my life I’ve had the strong desire to understand others around me, how they see things and why, and for them to understand me. I believe part of my reason for that was so I can find a commonality and connect with them and understand myself better too. Which is something most of us desire too, or should if we don’t! But it wasn’t until just recently I connected the dots to WHY I instinctively desired it.
It’s a God thing. It’s was not only my desire, but it was one that resonates with the heart of God too! Many scriptures show us that…
Understanding brings knowledge, which working together brings wisdom… a wisdom that makes life more meaningful, relationships more rewarding, God more reachable, and Hope more tangible!
“Understanding.”It’s truly a powerful concept, isn’t it?
