Freeing Truth

Updated: Mar 17

A friend recently commented I was a political person. I can easily understand why they would think so, which set me wondering about myself, for I don’t like politics.

I then realized my motivation behind what I post online isn’t because I’m into that arena, instead it’s because I’m passionate about TRUTH, which sadly seems in short supply when it comes to politics.

It seems the more I’ve gotten to know Jesus through scripture and on a personal level, the more I desire knowing the truth in ALL areas of life … including the political arena. Is that because the more I love God, the more I naturally love truth? I believe it is, for the Bible also tells us that God himself, through Jesus, IS Truth (Jhn 14:6). I then automatically like to seek out and share what’s true when something is questionable.

Truth brings real freedom and unity, both naturally and spiritually.
Deception breeds the opposite … corruption in all areas of life, disunity, and poisons hope.

Truth also destroys the power-hold of deception. The Bible then has good reason for telling us knowing the truth will set us free (Jhn 8:32) and that truth is an important part of the Armor of God, which He’s told us is a must wear and know how to use, if we’re to successfully fight the enemy (Eph 6:10-18 & 2Tim 2:15).

What about you? It seems that loving God means we’re going to love Truth too! Whether we’re socializing with friends, attending church, at work or in class, scanning social media posts or the news, or tuning in to a politician … when we hear something we know is askew or deceiving, it disquiets our spirit, urging us to enlighten with the truth while God’s spirit is also reminding us to do so in love. Do you too love God and value truth?

“As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12 NIV
