Times have changed. We have changed. We all have. It’s a given when the world around us seems to be unraveling at its core in every area of life. That’s a big reason why these days I especially love my Church. It gives me a place to refresh from all the chaos of life! No. Not the building. (in fact, through the years the building that houses us was morphed into something kind of crazy!) But I’m speaking of the people—the group who gathers there.
During a worship service or all-church gathering, I can look around me and see people of various skin colors, from varying cultures, representing every age group, rich and poor, men and women… all coming together in unity—enjoying being together to worship, fellowship, to receive encouragement and to give it, for we share a common bond as followers of Christ.
There is nothing like it when God’s people are striving to become more like Him; and to do so are digging out pearls of wisdom to live by, which are found in His Word!
For it is that which brings the unity most of us crave. And yes, the peace of mind and joy that’s possible even “when the world around us” is unraveling as well. When things grow dark, somehow God is able to keep us in the light.
The God who made us knows how we can best function in life even in the midst of its toughest storms. And He promises this kind of peace and joy to all who are His. So if you’re a Christian (or even if you’re not) and not experiencing this kind of unity and peace, I would highly recommend you go back to square one in your Walk with Christ. Perseveringly dig (or re-dig) into the scriptures to discover key things about God and following Christ that you might have missed or misconstrued, which have hindered you from experiencing God’s best.
I did, and have never regretted it for it opened up a whole new world! If you do, you too will find what you’re looking for. I know, for it is HE who has promised it, and I and many whom I know have experienced it. That’s why I also love this portion of scripture in Jeremiah 29 that tells us…
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord… .”
